In the morning, we returned to the coast (via a main paved road this time), passed through San Juan del Sur, and continued north up the coast where there were some beautiful white sandy beaches and great waves. We camped for three nights at Bahai Majugual which is a hostel/campground run by an Australian guy. […]

Bahia Conception. Well here we are on the east coast of the Baja, looking at the Sea of Cortez for the first time. We 4-wheeled onto a small peninsula that is only accessible when the tide is low (yes, the frame of the truck is getting a little red now from the salt…) but it […]

Our aim was to spend a couple of days on the beach relaxing because we have many long days of driving through Mexico (and beyond) ahead of us. We only had one full day in Cabo San Lucas, and we spent it doing the most interesting stuff. You’re really gonna shake your head at this! During our stroll downtown, we met Alex, who roped us into going to see a timeshare the following morning. Well, I’m not sure if that’s right way to […]

We spent our first few hours in Cancun getting our laundry done, and un-fun stuff like that, but headed off to the beach in the afternoon. What a gorgeous beach! Roca Blanca, Mexico

We spent 2 nights in Playa Roca Blanca, and what a treat it was! Roca Blanca is a small little village on the ocean that has large rocks off one point of the beach, and HUGE waves that crash along the entire beach that circles the bay. We camped on the beach the first night […]

In the morning, we travelled south and explored the coastline. There are a number of gorgeous beaches on the west coast of the peninsula and we stopped briefly to check some of them out. We continued south and just before dark, we took a 4×4 track towards the ocean and stumbled across a wonderful sandy […]

Southern Mexico Turtles

After a full day of driving along beautiful windy mountain roads down to the coast from Oaxaca, we pulled into the small beach town of Puerta Arista, about 3 hours north of the Guatemala border. We headed straight to the turtle ‘camp’ that I had read about before they closed for the evening.

Zorritos, Northern Peru

We spent about 5 days camping on the north coast of Peru on a gorgeous sandy beach.  This is the last location where we will find relatively warm ocean on this trip.  Further south there is a different ocean current that prevails, yielding much colder water temperatures.
