Happy New Year

Written by Raenelle on Friday, January 2, 2009

We spent a very relaxing and enjoyable Christmas camping in a National Park at a remote lake close to the Chile border. We didn’t have any expectations for Christmas, so when we found ourselves at this gorgeous lake a few days before christmas, we decided to stay … despite the lack of communications to the outside world over the holidays!

We’re currently in Chile. We completed our final border crossing on New Year’s Day, and as it turned out … it was one of the more difficult crossings we have had to complete! New Year’s eve was a great evening with an Argentinian family who invited us to join in the celebrations at their campsite. And what a celebration it was!

Along with the New Year comes alot of new directions for us. We will be starting a new chapter of our lives when we return home in alot of different regards. We are looking forward to it, and are having constant thoughts of home right now. We are a bit tired of the constant travelling at the moment and are, admittedly, missing our friends, family, and our JOBS (!) right now! Our new direction at the moment is clear: NORTHWARD! We have hit the southernmost leg of our journey, and are heading homeward! North to Santiago where we will arrange our vehicle shipping, and book our flights back home. We’re not looking forward to the winter weather at home, but we are looking forward to some stability!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year! Looking forward to catching up with everyone when we get back home!
