We met up with William and Nancy (the couple that we met on the coast), and joined them and their mothers for the weekend in the small town of Mindo, located about 1.5 hours west of Quito, Ecuador’s capital city.Nancy’s mother, Nancy, has a cabin in Mindo, where we stayed for the weekend.  We had a wonderful time and enjoyed many meals together, watched the hummingbirds, went for a hike in the jungle to some waterfalls, took a drive to visit some friends, and did some 4x4ing.

JungleOn Sunday, we headed to the city (Quito), and stayed with William’s mom (Lupe) for a few days.  Lupe lives about 5 blocks from a massive city park, which served as Loca’s playground (a walk around the perimeter of the park is 5km!).  We had a really great time with Lupe, who took us to the old part of town, where she showed us some of the gorgeous historical buildings and churches.  We enjoyed many hours chatting about all sorts of things, ranging from travel to politics!

William and his family have been very kind in helping us get some minor repairs done on our truck.  Thank you William, Nancy, Lupe and Nancy for everything!  Come and visit us in Canada!  Mi casa is su casa!
